Dear Friends,

It's so hard to believe that the summer is almost over.  Unlike summer's past there was very little "summer slow-down".  God is very busy at Wings.  It would be safe to say that the summer has been a bit of a whirlwind... a good whirlwind... filled with the Spirit.  Thank you, Poppa God.

On July 27^th we were blessed to have Ben Woodward and his family from Kansas City with us for our Open House leading worship.  What a blessed night!  Leading us into praise as we opened was Kate Smith, Andrew Harrell and Tyler Houze, all of whom serve The Wings Of Refuge during many of our worship times.  The word that comes to mind for explaining that night is "abundance".  We want to thank all of you who were able to attend and all of you who helped us get ready. Thank you for the cleaning and food preparation; the ministry house looked wonderful and the food was incredible.  People ask how many came and although I did not keep a count, I can tell you the parking lot was full, even into the adjacent lots and most everyone stayed, filling our worship room.

We had a great time celebrating GOD'S GOODNESS; and His goodness, is, indeed, what the night was about.  I cannot begin to tell you how blessed everyone was, the night was truly amazing, and people are still being affected.  The worship was powerful and prayer and healing abounded as the Spirit did His MIGHTY WORK!  Some who visited for the first time that night have started their healing journey at Wings.  We give God ALL the Glory. 

Wings is preparing for its fall Bible studies, which we will begin the week of September 14^th.  On Monday nights we will have a coed group and on Thursday mornings we will have a women's group.  Both gatherings will be times of worship, healing and the study of God's Word.  We are using two books, one by Steve Thompson called, You May All Prophesy, and the other is The Costly Anointing by Laurie Wilke.  There is little understanding in the church on how or why we are to prophesy to one another, or how it helps and encourages.  To give a word to someone can set them free, heal a broken heart, and lift a burden.  The Bible is very clear on this subject and this book explains it quite simply.  We will usethis book and other material to make this profound and awesome give more available to and through the Body of Christ (For you can all prophesy one by one so that all may learn and all may be exhorted. 1 Cor. 14:31).

To prophesy one needs the anointing yet when some talk about the anointing, there is often confusion and misinterpretation.  The Spirit of the Lord would love to bring truth and unity to the Body by removing this confusion, because God is not the author of confusion.  The anointing is the precious and costly presence of God which you both need and want in your life every day.  The anointing and prophesy work together, if you are interested in either of these please call for more information at 244-1557.

Also, increasing the number of available trained workers at Wings is always on our prayer journal.  If you (men and women) have thought that you would like to be available as a prayer warrior/intercessor please contact us.  We are in the beginning stages of plans for our next training seminar.

Before this letter comes to a close we would love for you to hear from one of God's "precious ones" as she shares what time at Wings has meant to her.

"The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18

Brokenhearted and crushed pretty much describes my spirit when I first came to Wings.  For years I had been able to shove deep inside the abuse and neglect I had suffered.  I spent most of my energy raising my sons.  Then they grew up and life came crashing down.  I wanted to quit and had actually planned a way out.

God's love, to me was only a bunch of stories I grew up with.  I came to Wings because a small part of me wanted to live.  I am alive today because of the work God is doing through my friends at Wings.  I never realized how real, loving and powerful God is.  I have a long way to go, but I know with God's help thru the ministry here I will be free.  I don't know yet how that feels, but I do know it will be AMAZING!!!     Lynn

I cannot begin to tell you the incredible and awesome things that are going on in this place - you just have to come and be a part of it.  We cry, laugh, dance and sing a lot giving God praises.  The hearts that are made whole, lives that are being changed, the minds and souls redeemed and the bodies that are being healed are numerous.  Those touched are not just the clients; it is also the volunteers.  Daily we are moved by the power of the Holy Spirit in unbelievable ways and we are changed!

Please prayerfully consider giving of your time and/or finances to Wings.  It is such an honor to give to what God is doing and as God is stepping up this ministry we truly need the Body of Christ.  We KNOW that JESUS CHRIST is our foundation, but we need each other.  We need your prayers, time and your giving.  Know that we pray for you daily so please feel free to call at anytime with your needs.
